A single-overhead-camshaft design with four valves per cylinder and 1.8-liter displacement make the I-4 V MAX SHO 90 a class leader in torque, top speed and efficiency. Even still, it's one of the quietest 90-horsepower outboards on the water. That makes for some pretty stealthy fishing.

The I-4 V MAX SHO® 175 and 150 maximize combustion efficiency for clean, quiet power that no two-stroke can match, featuring Variable Camshaft Timing to optimize intake camshaft angle for increased low- and mid-RPM power and throttle response, with up to 40% better fuel efficiency than traditional carbureted two-strokes through Precision Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection and long-track intake system, while an array of advanced sensors continuously feeds atmospheric and engine data to the Engine Control Module for instant performance adjustments. Built for unbeatable reliability with Cowling Drain System and Air Intake Labyrinth System that trap and drain water during normal operation, wet sump pump lubrication with pressurized oil delivery, comprehensive Engine Warning System providing overheat protection, low-oil-pressure warning with automatic RPM reduction to 2000, over-rev protection, water-in-fuel detection, start-in-gear protection and shift-in prevention at open throttle, plus Phaze Five™ five-layer anti-corrosive paint with YDC-30 proprietary alloy, these engines eliminate the need for external oil tanks to save weight and increase storage space while delivering 50 amps of charging power for the 175 and 150 models (35 amps for the 115 and 90), with mechanical controls for easy rigging with most bass, bay, and flats boats and compatibility with analog, 6Y5 digital, or Command Link® gauges.
